The Opposite of Type
The completed "polar type" series has essentially become the opposite of typography, usually about eliminating ambiguity, now containing meaning without giving it away.
An act of destruction and creation, #13 turned out to be a homage to David Carson, and the end of type.
To be absolutely clear -- neither typography, nor type, not even print are dead. Creating ripples, even blowing things up, are one thing, while declaring an end is something completely different. So there, ...

You can display the Polar Type in a completely decorative and innocent manner or use it to make an artistic statement within the context of a collection of various works, or express your sense of taste in a corporate environment.

Material: Matte black vinyl on matte, almost smooth, white aluminum sandwich board.
Dimensions: 10 x 10 x .2 inches or 25 x 25 x 0.5cm.

Vinyl, aluminum, bright pop-art influenced design, furniture, wallpaper, prints, decals, and non-destructive graffiti... sounds familiar? Welcome to the LYROIS shop!
The use of scraps from industrial signmaking to create pieces of fine art is an ironic part of the original LYROIS project. The waste of huge amounts of vinyl for very-short-term commercial and advertising purposes initially inspired the idea to recycle the precious materials. An ideal case is the nested production of art inside large areas of unused space within throw-away signage, saving resources and reducing the pain of building for nothing and nobody.
